The Career Development Program at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is a comprehensive program to assist students as they move into the workforce.
All jobs have the same basic employability skills requirements – having a positive attitude, arriving at work on time and when scheduled, displaying appropriate dress/grooming, using appropriate manners and interpersonal skills, following directions, accepting criticism well, and staying on task, among others. Through the program, students have real experience to practice work-related behaviors and skills learned from career and technical education programs of study.
Students have job coaches to assist them as they develop and refine good work habits.
Through business partnerships, students learn job skills through real-life work experiences in more than 15 local businesses. Students may also receive specific training in an on-campus work environment.
