Communications & PR

The Communications & Public Relations (C&PR) department is responsible for advancing the vision and mission of the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) by ensuring accurate, timely and interactive communications with a variety of stakeholders – students, families, staff members, alumni, donors, media practitioners, members of local and state governments, school district personnel, individuals and groups within the deaf/hard of hearing and blind/visually impaired communities, and the business community.

C&PR oversees the architecture, design and content of the FSDB website, linking content to social media and other distribution channels. We work in cooperation with campus departments to ensure that website and social media content is accurate and up-to-date.

C&PR develops print, web, video (recording/streaming), photography and related content which highlight the many outstanding programs, activities, and accomplishments of FSDB students and staff members. We also provide graphics design support to campus departments.

C&PR serves as a liaison between media practitioners and the FSDB community. We handle all media requests, provide background material and resources, schedule appointments, and ensure interpreting access for interviews. We also develop and place news stories highlighting the many positive aspects of the FSDB experience for potential students and their families.

C&PR helps the campus community to publicize events, activities and accomplishments through press releases and announcements and through the News and Events features on the campus website. We also provide writing and editing services upon request.

C&PR advances FSDB as a school of choice through campus representation and presentations at conferences, meetings, and special events. We develop print and electronic advertisements, exhibit displays, print and electronic materials (viewbooks, brochures, fact sheets, and videos), as well as promotional handouts.
