Library & Media Services

Welcome to the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) Libraries!

We are proud to have two Library & Media Centers on campus for our students, teachers, staff members, and the school community. Although the purpose of having two separate libraries is to serve the Deaf and Blind Schools, we warmly welcome cross-department visits.

The Lindheimer Library & Media Center and the Cary White Library & Media Center missions are to serve as an integral part of the total FSDB educational program.  In today’s age of information, we strive to promote student success in becoming effective library users.  Most of all, it is our goal to instill the love for reading in every student that walks through our doors.

To fulfill this mission, we continually analyze and update the materials we have in our collections with the best and most current resources for our students, teachers and staff members. We aim provide top-notch service to those with academic needs as well as personal interests.  See below to learn more about what each library has to offer.

Cary White Library & Media Center Lindheimer Library & Media Center
Located on the first floor of the Cary White Complex, the Cary White Library & Media Center provides services to students in the Blind Schools and the Early Learning Center. Equipped with multiple CCTVs, audio players, computers and braille writers, the library provides technological access for student needs. The Lindheimer Library & Media Center is located on the entire first floor of the Walker Hall Annex. We are proud to maintain a vast collection of books in a wide range of genres and subjects for students in the Deaf Schools. We strive to include titles that even the most reluctant reader would want to check out!
The library has two classrooms – one is for ELC-5th graders, with audio equipment and a large flat screen TV – the other classroom is equipped with an electronic white board for teaching research skills or other activities. We also serve teachers and staff members responsible for on-campus programs by maintaining a large collection of K-12 teaching materials and classroom book sets. Computers, cameras and other multimedia equipment are also accessible or available for sign outs.
Come on by and learn more about our enrichment programs that encourage reading for fun! Come over in person to check out all we have to offer!
