The Technology Services department at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) is comprised of the following departments:
Distance Learning Services
The Distance Learning Services program provides support, training and tools to benefit students, staff, parents, and stakeholders throughout the state. Collaboration opportunities are offered through live broadcasts, webinars, online classes, and more.
Instructional and Assistive Technology
The Instructional and Assistive Technology program at FSDB supports the integration of technologies for teaching, learning, independent living, and career and vocational activities. Engaging instructional curriculum and technologies are available throughout every program for both staff and students. FSDB also provides an array of assistive technologies to ensure students become confident and independent technology users.
The Network Services area of the department manages the campus network including, servers, wired and wireless Internet access, computers, mobile devices, printers, additional peripherals, and other components of the network infrastructure.
FSDB is a unique state agency functioning as a school district. Data and reports are submitted to the Florida Department of Education when appropriate as well as to the Florida Department Finance and Florida Department of Management Services. The Information/Data Services area not only supports required state reporting, but also supports information and data used for daily operations.
Library & Media Services
FSDB provides Library & Media Services for the campus community. Staff members and students are able to visit either library – both house a wealth of educational and professional materials. The librarians collaborate with teachers, reading specialists, braille specialists and are members of FSDB Curriculum and Literacy Committees.
