The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind (FSDB) Transportation Department ensures that both students who live nearby, and students who participate in the boarding program, are safely and courteously transported to and from their homes. In order to facilitate this process, the following procedures have been developed. Calendars and timetables are mailed to students’ parents or legal guardians at the beginning of the school year.
Students who live in St. Augustine and surrounding areas are transported by daily bus service to and from the FSDB campus. A parent or legal guardian is required to stay with the child until the bus arrives in the morning and to be at the designated location when the bus returns their child in the afternoon. Students are picked up in the morning and returned to the same location at the end of the day.
Students whose families live beyond the local area of the school are eligible for weekly transportation to and from the FSDB campus on weekends and holidays. Students are picked up at designated locations/ times on Sunday during regular weeks and transported to the FSDB campus, where they participate in the boarding program during the week. On Friday afternoons, students are transported home to the same designated locations. Parents or legal guardians are required to stay with the child until the bus arrives for pick up on Sunday and to be waiting when the bus arrives with their children at the end of the school week.
