FSDB Cheerleaders to Compete in Old Town Showdown Cheer and Dance Competitions

PRESS RELEASEST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Dec. 6, 2011) – The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is hosting the “Old Town Showdown” American Championships regional cheer and dance competitions on its campus Dec. 10 with doors opening at noon and competitions beginning at 2 p.m. The competitions will take place in Settles Gym with several awards ceremonies in Kirk Auditorium. The event is open to the public and admission fee is $5 for adults and children.
The varsity cheerleading team from the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is scheduled to compete in the Florida High School Athletics Association (FSHAA) Small Varsity category at 6:12 p.m.
“Our cheerleaders are very excited since it is the start of the competition season,” said Sue Hill, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind athletics director. “They have been practicing daily and are ready to compete.”
The competition is anticipated to draw about 30 teams comprised of participants of all ages from the local surrounding areas.
Visitors can access the campus at 207 N. San Marco Avenue on the day of the event through the Genopoly Street or the North A1A entrances.
