Academic Bowl Challenge

FSD high school staff squeaked to a win in the annual Staff Vs. Students Academic Bowl match yesterday. Teachers Bette Rosenthal, Richard Malcolm, Maryann Antal, and Allen Weaver came from behind to pull to a 77 – 73 win.
The students got out in front with a comfortable lead after the first round, and by the second round had an 11-point lead before faltering in the final round. Students for this year’s Academic Bowl Team are Jason Antal, Braden Forbes, Gus Shitama, and Tyler Church.
This annual match is a preparation for the Academic Bowl, an academic competition held at Gallaudet University. The FSDB Academic Bowl Team is headed to Washington, DC, later this week to represent FSDB in the National Competition. FSDB’s record at the Nationals is impressive with one National Championship and several regional wins.
This year’s team will represent FSDB well. Sponsors Matt Smith and Jacquelyn Lally have coached a strong team. We will follow them via Gallaudet’s Academic Bowl website. Good luck, team! Bring home the gold!
