The artwork of three young artists from FSDB’s Blind Department was selected from nearly four hundred entries to the American Printing House 2011 InSights Art Competition. Nicholas Roberts from Mrs. Wallace’s fifth-grade class submitted a piece entitled Ancient Chinese Ninja. Victoria Parson, a fourth-grader in Ms. Bilancio’s class submitted Geometry. Lance Gardenhire, Ms. Dalia’s second-grader, submitted Picking Apples.

The American Printing House in Louisville, Kentucky, is the largest non-profit providing educational, workplace, and independent-living products for people who are blind or visually impaired. The APH will feature the artwork of 81 blind or visually impaired artists at their 2011 Art Exhibition in Louisville this October. FSDB’s three contributors are among the 81 artists selected for the exhibition.

A very proud Kathy Michaelson, FSDB Braille Specialist and sponsor for the student Tactile Braille Club, collected and submitted 17 entries from student-artists. This is the 20th annual competition for blind or visually impaired artists of all ages.
