First Grade Students Learn to Care for Animals
Posted: 9/2/2011 in Academics
First grade students from the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind welcomed a guest speaker here Sept. 1.
Marianne Larsen, a volunteer with S.A.F.E. Pet Rescue since September 2008, spoke to the students on how to properly care for dogs and cats. S.A.F.E. rescues dogs and cats in an effort to place them into adoptable homes.
At the center of attention during the event were Thunder and Marmalade, two kittens who were recently rescued.
Larsen interacted with the students by showing them how the kittens played with the different toys she brought in addition to talking to them about pet nutrition and training.
The students are currently learning about animals and the types of careers involved.
