FSDB Offers Community Education ASL 1 Class

St. Augustine, Fla. (Oct. 12, 2011) — The Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind is offering a beginning level American Sign Language (ASL) class for the public. The class begins Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012, and will meet on Tuesdays from 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. for 10 weeks.

The class introduces participants to basic concepts of American Sign Language for use in everyday communication with family, friends, new acquaintances or on the job. Hundreds of common signs are taught during this course.

The class fee is $70. The book used is “A Basic Course in American Sign Language.” Registered participants may purchase the book from FSDB for a discounted rate of $30.

Location of the class is FSDB’s Moore Hall, Room #126 located at 207 N. San Marco Avenue, St. Augustine.
