FSDB Teachers Rock!

Posted: 8/9/2011 in Academics

The Teaching Channel shares inspirational teaching practices at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind in a newly-released video.

The video features Blind Department teachers Linda Huntoon and Mark Largent, and Deaf Department teacher Lia Ferrante. Mobility specialist and winning goalball coach, James Crozier, also shares his experience in the film. The dedication and work of these teachers inspires students to flourish both in and out of the classroom.

In the same video, the Teaching Channel also visits the hands-on classroom of culinary arts director, Chef Sherry Gaynor. Inspired by their classes, more than 30 of her students are pursuing careers in the food industry. Rounding out the snapshot of FSDB, program director Betsy Gaura instructs high school students in an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) class.

The Teaching Channel reaches thousands of teachers in all 50 states. Their goal is to showcase effective and inspiring teaching practices in public schools nationwide.

FSDB is proud of its featured teachers. The stories of their personal commitment to the profession of teaching represent the stories of so many teachers on our campus each day.
