Heart Health Fun

Elementary and middle school students participated in the Jump Rope for Hearts / Hoops for Hearts event last Thursday.
Students from both the Department for the Deaf and the Department for the Blind learned the basics for preventing heart disease: exercise, nutrition, and regular doctor visits. They also raised money for the American Heart Association. Megan Gardner, the American Heart Association JRFH/HFH Coordinator received the money from FSDB’s happy jumpers/hoopsters. Students raised a total of $921, surpassing the goal of $500!
Coach Mary Ellen Stewart directed the jump-rope event, and Coach Keith Young ran the hoops event. On June 1, in a spirit of good fun, students who raised money will throw pies at their favorite PE staff member.
Oscar Snead, Deaf Department sixth-grader, led the fund-raising with a total of $190. Vincent Giacin, Deaf Department fifth-grader was a close second, raising $175.
