Seven to be Interviewed by Board of Trustees for FSDB President Position

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. (Oct. 6, 2011) – The search for the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind’s new president is nearing completion as the Board of Trustees announced during a board meeting Sept. 30 their final list of candidates to be interviewed.
“We believe the candidates are a remarkably strong group with many having the skill sets and attributes that we would like to see in FSDB’s next president,” said Chris Wagner, Board of Trustees chair.
The candidates selected by the board to move forward to the interview process are:
Shelley Popson Ardis – Executive Director of Technology Services, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, St. Augustine, Fla.
Jeffery Mark Battle – High School Principal, Tennessee School for the Deaf, Knoxville, Tenn.
Steven J. Gettel – Superintendent, Montana School for the Deaf and the Blind, Great Fall, Mont.
Stan Gustetic – Administrator of Allied Health Services, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, St. Augustine, Fla.
Jeanne Glidden Prickett – Superintendent, Iowa School for the Deaf, Council Bluffs, IA
Daniel S. Wenzel – Center Director, Wisconsin Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Janesville, Wis.
Rebecca Hilding Wilson – Principal, Deaf Department, Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, St. Augustine, Fla.
Of the more than 40 people from around the nation who applied, 12 applicants were recommended to the Board of Trustees during a board meeting on Aug. 26 as potential candidates for consideration as the school’s new leader. Danny Hutto, who served as the school’s interim president in October 2007 and as president since January 2008, is set to retire on April 30, 2012.
The final candidates will be interviewed by the FSDB Board of Trustees during a public board meeting Nov. 3 and 4.
