Parent-Infant Program

The Parent-Infant Program (PIP) provides:

  • Home-based early intervention for families with infants and young children who are deaf/hard-of-hearing and/or blind/visually impaired.
  • Early Learning Program for children who are deaf/hard of hearing ages 18-36 months.
  • Training for qualified professionals who work with the families of these young children.

The PIP home-based early intervention program provides regularly scheduled visits to families. Together with the family, certified professionals address the family’s concerns and help to determine priorities for their child. Families, caregivers, and early interventionists share information, discuss ideas, strategies and adaptations, and monitor a child’s progress. By working collaboratively, each family’s ability to help their child become a participating family member and a part of the larger community is enhanced.

The PIP Early Learning Program is for children who are deaf or hard of hearing ages 18–36 months. Twice a week, families bring their children to this group that provides opportunities for socialization, interactive learning, pre-literacy activities and language development.

The PIP training program provides specific training to professionals who have at least a Bachelor’s degree in a field related to early intervention, special education, deafness or blindness. The training will enable them to work with families with infants and young children who are deaf/hard of hearing and/or blind visually impaired.
