Notice of Procedural Safeguards for Parents of Students with Disabilities

Parents are entitled to information about their rights under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). The information is critical to ensuring the opportunity for parents to be a partner in the educational decisions made regarding their child.

This notice of procedural safeguards is available, at a minimum, upon initial referral or request for an evaluation; upon the school district’s refusal to conduct an initial evaluation that you have requested; upon each notification of a meeting of the individual educational plan (IEP) team for your child; upon consent to a reevaluation of your child; upon the school district’s receipt of a request for a due process hearing; and any other time you as a parent request to receive a copy.
