Try-outs for the 2011 swim team, for students in grades 6-12, will be August 22, 23, & 24 from 3:45 – 5:30 p.m. Potential swimmers should come prepared with a 1-piece bathing suit, a towel, a cap, and goggles. Swimmers should be able to swim at least 3 of the 4 competitive swim strokes. Team suits and caps will be ordered after try-outs are complete. Families are expected to supply their swimmer with at least 2 pair of competitive swim goggles for practice and competition. FSDB’s swim team is part of the FHSAA’s Region 1, District 2 group. We compete against many high schools in the Jacksonville and Northeast Florida area.
Coaching Philosophy: The coaches aim to provide swimmers with a challenging work-out and to assist them in developing the stroke mechanics needed to improve their times. Much emphasis will be placed on improving personal records, rather than comparison to others. Our goal is to help each swimmer become the best swimmer – and person – they can be.
Parents, if you have not yet done so, you need to download the sports physical and sports permission forms, complete them, and return these to the FSDB – Athletics office. Swimmers, you cannot attend try-outs or begin practice until these forms are complete.
Forms can be found at: http://www.fsdb.k12.fl.us/student/athletics/
For those swimmers who live locally, we will start practice on Tuesday, August 16th. Practice will be August 16th – August 20th, 3:45 – 5:45 p.m. each day.
After school starts, morning practices will be 5:45 – 7:00 a.m., Mon., Wed. and Fri., unless we have a meet the night before. After school starts, afternoon practices will be 3:45 – 5:30 p.m. Monday – Thursday afternoons.
TRY-OUTS / PRACTICE STARTS THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!
