The Boarding Program at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind provides boarding for students who are Florida residents (K through 22 years old), and who live outside of St. Johns County. We have 17 different dorm areas located on campus. Each dorm area has a kitchen and lounge area to create a welcoming environment at the end of the school day.
Boarding staff supervise students during non-class hours. No boarding staff members live on campus. The staff monitors the behaviors and activities of students at all times.
The night staff is responsible for the students while they are sleeping. Staff members complete a nightly report in which they document room checks and record any significant incidents that happen during the night. In the mornings, staff assist students to arrive on time and prepared for class. Instructional Assistants from the academic program assist night staff in the mornings so that ratios can be maintained. In 7 dorms, students eat breakfast in the dorm, and the night staff is responsible for the meal preparation.
FSDB maintains staffing standards at all times. The President and Administrator of Boarding Services receive monthly ratio reports for all dormitories. Required ratios of staff to students follow below:
| Grade Level | Day | Night |
| Elementary | 1:9 | 1:24 |
| Middle | 1:12 | 1:32 |
| High | 1:15 | 1:40 |
| Special Needs | 1:4 | 1:16 |
