FSDB Students Garner Recognition at SkillsUSA; One Selected for National Competition

Real life experiences and work-related challenges characterize the Apartment Program for students at FSDB. Launched almost 5 years ago, student apartments house around 80 high school seniors and continuing students in 16 apartments.
Many students hold part-time jobs while attending school full-time. Students plan, shop for, and prepare meals in apartments which they maintain. They are responsible to arrive on time for school, for jobs and for other activities.
In addition to their regular schedule, students in the apartments perform community service, and they attend evening classes in independent living skills. Students gain these skills with limited staff supervision. The goal of the Apartment Program is to prepare students so that they can live independently when they leave FSDB.
